Djibouti Navy
Weekly Fleet !
Djiboutian Navy (and Naval Base hub): The country gained independence in 1977 and is strategically located. Albeit being a small country it is a major local port and trade hub and controls access to the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and from there, the whole of Asia. A green water navy tasked of patrolling 314-kilometre (195 mi) of seaboard, it is provided with 34 Patrol crafts, two transports and three landing crafts provides its core, mostly from the US, many donated. Foreign military presence near Djibouti is massive and contributes alone to 5% of the country’s GDP, but the fishery industries are by far its greatest asset, in addition to services for intermodal distribution and container ship supply.
France, the US, Japan and China all have sizeable local naval bases, even the largest abroad for the last two, developed when piracy was at its hottest. Naval Spying affairs also had created controversy there. The recent Houthi attacks in the red sea from October 2023 to March 2024 only increased local activity. #djibouti #djiboutibase #doraleh (Jibuchi Kyouwakoku ni okeru Jieitai Kyoten, Camp lemonnier, Doraleh PLAN NB…)
